It all started with the work of Roger Callahan, Ph.D., a practicing psychologist, who discovered a number of elegant ways to eliminate psychological anguish.
In the early 1980s, Dr. Callahan began researching new treatments aimed at shortening treatment times and achieving deeper, longer lasting results.
Applying principles from the field of applied kinesiology, Dr. Callahan suggested that our psychological problems are caused and controlled by the energy pathways (acupuncture meridians) in our body. He developed a technique called Thought Field Therapy (TFT), which involves tapping various acupuncture points in order to get relief from a range of physical and emotional problems.
Although Larry Nims has made good use of Dr. Callahan’s techniques throughout his clinical practice, he was never happy with Callahan’s explanation of how these techniques work. Larry began developing a more constructive theory to explain their performance. These new assumptions led him to develop a simpler and surprisingly effective treatment called Be Set Free Fast ™ (BSFF).
The BSFF technique is not energy therapy in the sense that TFT and EFT are. Although it evolved from TFT, the theoretical basis and direction of treatment is fundamentally different from energy therapies. BSFF, like energy techniques, continues to evolve. Although BSFF initially included tapping similar to that used in TFT and EFT, it has become apparent that tapping and attention to meridians is not necessary for effective deeper levels of the psyche. Instead, BSFF is moving towards a real system of control and management – the subconscious.
